Meet Toronto Dentist, Dr. Hsiao-Wei Chou

Dr. Hsiao-Wei Chou

Dr. Hsiao-Wei Chou received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Chung-Shang Medical and Dental College in Taiwan. Dr. Chou has great experience working in a private general dental practice at Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Hospital and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. She has lectured in various schools in Taiwan and China. Dr. Chou has received specialized training in Advanced Periodontics and Dental Implants from National Taiwan University. Dr.Chou is affiliated with the scientific associate in the Graduate Program of Periodontology and Oral Implantology at National Taiwan University. She was the assistant director of the International Affair of Taiwan Academy of Periodontology.

 

Dr. Chou received professional certification and licencing in Periodontal diplomat of Taiwan Academy of Periodontology in Taiwan, Periodontal certificate in National Taiwan University in Taiwan, Canadian National Dental Board Certified, and Taiwan National Dental Board Certified. Dr. Chou is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration, ITI Foundation, and American Academy of Periodontology.

 

Dr. Chou has been awarded as best poster presentation award at the ICOI Taiwan meeting in 2008, at Osstem Taiwan meeting in 2007 and Academy of Implantology in China during the year 2005. Dr. Chou has also won the best award in clinical research at the Taiwan Academy of Periodontology.

 

Research publications and presentations that Dr. Chou contributed included:

  • Clinical and Histologic Evaluation of Alveolar Bone Preservation in Extraction Sockets by Using Calcium Sulfate and Mineralized Freeze-dried Bone Matrix with or without Non-resorbable dPTFE membrane
  • Platform switch – New concept to preserve peri-implant bone levelStudy of sinus augmentation using platelet rich plasma in conjunction with autogenous bone graft or a
  • combination of autogenous and β type tri-calcium phosphate graft

 

Now, Dr. Chou will dedicate her expert services to the people in the Greater Toronto Area. In her leisure time, Dr. Chou enjoys various activities such as traveling, swimming, and dancing.
